Sustenance food blog has been in the making since 2006. It started as a thought in passing when Victoire, single and living by herself, dreamt up recipes for the single working person. Recipes that were simple yet nourishing, easy to make and enjoy whether catering for one or many.

Before the blog was realised Nico came onto the scene, they shared recipes and ideas, traded laughter and crooned over every new flavour, promising to “blog it” once their delightful food blog had come into being.

We finally managed to put pen to paper or code to the information highway and started Sustenance, a food blog from Johannesburg in 2008.

Our vision for Sustenance is to provide insights into simple, fast, tasty food… the kind of stuff you’ll enjoy making whether you’re preparing dinner for one, the whole family or the entire neighbourhood.

    Hi guys

I would like to introduce you to the newly opened Thai Cafe – Greenside.

Thai Cafe is a Cape Town based franchise, which is new to Gauteng.

Thai Cafe Greenside, is a vibey cafe style restaurant, serving authentic, fresh and delicious Thai food, cooked by Thai chef’s.

We have been open for just over a week now, and the response to our food has been fantastic, with numerous repeat customers already.

The decor is funky, Greenside style, the service is fast and slick, and the food speaks for itself.
Situated at 137 Greenside, just around the corner from the madness of the Greenside ‘strip’, Thai Cafe is a family friendly, Halaal friendly and very affordable eatery.

Open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, we would love to invite you to come and sample a taste of Thailand in Greenside, and hopefully write about your experience on your blog.

    Check us out at http://www.facebook.com/TCGreenside

Our menu can be found at : http://www.thaicafe.biz/images/menu-greenside.pdf.

Please let us know when you would like to come and visit us so that we can welcome you.

    Kind regards
    Craigan Millar

[…] This pot bread can be made in the oven or in a potjie pot. Use ready made bread dough which is available at most supermarkets, roll into bolletjies (8-10) and pack tightly in the pot. Then in a jug mix 1 cup of cream , ½ cup of milk and white onion soup mix. Pour over the dough. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Put the lid on and bake for approximately 30 minutes. Where in Joburg can we source fennel? The market seems to be between supplies. It’s such a popular veg now that someone must be producing it.

    1. Dear Marie-Lais, fennel is easily found at any supermarket (Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Spar), Food lovers market or local greengrocer.
